17th Avenue is a good area to take a date. Along 17th Avenue you'll find an abundance of intimate ambiance and even places for a quick nibble before or after a show. The restaurants here are not just busy, there are more opening up, indicating an healthy economic climate and good walk-by traffic.The Avenue has several reasonably-priced authentic Italian restaurants: Chianti's, Fiore's, the mid-priced Il Giardino, the more upscale Buon Giorno. There are a number of finer dining establishments (not to quibble): Laurier Room's, Eight (parto f Mercury), Cilantro's, and Victoria's, with La Chaumiere holding the crown. There are many terrific places for ethnic food, ranging from Greek, to Moroccan, to Japanese. And of course, most of the major fast food chains are on the Avenue.
