Homes: Applewood neighbourhood

Applewood is located between Memorial Drive and 17th Avenue SE, and east of 68th Street. On its northwest edge it angles against railway tracks and the community of Abbeydale.

Schools
Public board pupils attend James Short Memorial on 5th Avenue S.E., G.W. Skene Elementary on Penbrooke Drive, Ernest Morrow Junior High on 47th Street, and Forest Lawn High School.

Separate board students attend Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha elementary in Abbeydale, Bishop Kidd Junior High in Albert Park and Father Lacombe High in Radisson.

Shopping
There are lots of retail stores on the 17th Avenue SE shopping district (also called "International Avenue". The nearest big shopping centre is Marlborough Mall and the 36th Street NE shopping area.

Recreation
A 15-acre school board-city site in the center of Applewood has tennis and basketball courts, baseball diamonds and a soccer field. There's also a three-acre park in the southeast corner, and the community is kitty-corner to the pretty Elliston Park, with a 50 acre stormwater lake. Village Square Leisure Centre, to the northwest on 52nd Street in Pineridge, has an ice rink and wave pool.

Homes
Begun in the late 1970s, this community has about 1,000 single family homes.On the east end of the community, along 84 St SE is a trailer park
