Homes: Arbour Lake neighbourhood

Arbour Lake is nestled northwest of the intersection of Nose Hill Drive and John Laurie Boulevard. The community is built around 10 acre Arbour Lake, west of Calgary's scenic Nose Hill Park. Its western vantage point gives it both good mountain and Bow Valley views. Home building in Arbour Lake began around 1991. The area has about 1,200 homes built to date, and when the community is complete will have about 3,000 homes.

Schools
There are no schools in the community yet, though a separate elementary school (at the intersection of Arbour Lake Drive and Arbour Lake Road) will be opened shortly. Separate board pupils are bused to Assumption Elementary/Junior High, and St. Francis High on Northmount Drive N.W. Public board students are bused to Dalhousie Elementary, H.D Cartwright Junior High (also in Dalhousie), and Bowness High.

Shopping
Crowfoot Town Centre, off Nose Hill Drive, has a Safeway and Revy, restaurants and several auto dealers.

Recreation
The Arbour Lake Residents Association maintains the lake and the surrounding recreational facilities, including a 4,000 square foot lakeside pavilion. The Association has a full time manager and an activities coordinator for swimming, canoeing and tennis lessons, skating parties, fishing derbies and kite-flying days. This is funded by yearly assessments paid by all residents. In Arbour Lake, that translates into $372 for lake-front houses, $260 for lots with lake access (a direct pathway) and $150 for all other homes.

Homes
The community is mostly single family homes with some bungalows, with some teh smaller starter homes closer to Crowfoot Centre, and the move-up and estate homes north and east of Arbour Lake.
