Homes: Auburn Bay neighbourhood

This community is south of highway 22X and east of Highway 2. This 900-acre master-planned community will eventually have 6,000 homes encircling a 43-acre freshwater lake.

Schools
Public school students attend Andrew Sibbald in Lake Bonavista, Nickle Junior High in Lake Bonavista, and Dr EP Scarlett in Canyon Meadows.

Separate school students attend St Boniface Elementary, and St Bonaventure Junior High in Acadia, and Bishop Grandin High in Haysboro.

Shopping
The area is close to a strip mall on McKenzie Lake Boulevard, with additional stores in nearby McKenzie Towne. The largest area shopping centre isthe "big box" shopping centre with a movie multiplex in Shaughnessy off Macleod Trail, via 22X.

Recreation
43-acre (17 hectares) Lake Auburn is the focal point of this community, which will also have 13 acres (5 heactares) of parkland around the lake. The recreational facilities will include tennis courts, beach volleyball, basketball, a fishing dock, picnic areas, a toboggan hill, a fire pit, a creek and waterfall and boat rentals.

Homes
The community was begun by Carma in the last 1980's and now has about 500 lots under development. Cottage-country architecture is casually elegant. Richly detailed. Distinguished by obvious craftsmanship. Heartland is building starter homes, and Bay West, Cardel, Cedarglen and Jayman are building move-up homes in Auburn Bay, and Albi and Morrison are building Estate/Executive homes. THe community is expected to be fully developed by 2020.
