These communities lie south of Fish Creek Park, and on the west side of Macleod Trail. These communities are new, having been built since 1980. New office buildings and the south LRT stations at Fish Creek-Lacombe and at Shawnessy have reduced commuting time for residents. The community is rapidly becoming a shopper's paradise with many big box stores attracted to the 50,000 area residents in the "young family" demographic. Two low-density communities are close to the Fish Creek Park: Shawnee is built around the Shawnee Slopes golf course, while Evergreen Estates is to the west. Millrise and Shawnessy are higher density communities with mostly single family homes. Some newer developments to the south (in Somerset/Somerside) and west (in Evergreen) are including townhomes and condos, trading off affordability for a higher density reminiscent of the Inner City.

Schools
Public school students in the community attend Janet Johnstone (or Ethel Johnson in Southwood), Robert Warren Junior High, and the new Centennial High School in Sundance. Separate School students attend Our Lady of Peace in Millrise, and Bishop O'Byrne in Shawnessy. Aerial View of Shaughnessy & Millrise Shopping
The west side of Macleod Trail provides a number of "category killer" big box stores to meet almost every need. The small Midnapore Mall is across Macleod Trail, the upscale Avenida Mall is just north of Fish Creek, and Southcentre -- the largest mall in the area -- is just north of Anderson Rd.

Recreation
Most of the recreation is around Fish Creek Park, with its recreational pathways that link to the Bow River pathway system to the east. The communitiy's major recreation facilites are the South Fish Creek Recreation Centre with its ice arena, and the YMCA, with two wave pools, the Southland Leisure Centre to the north, and the Family Leisure Centre to the east. Shawnee Slopes golf course is in the middle of the community. The Famous Players Coliseum movie theatres are right on Macleod Trail.

Homes
Millrise and Shawnessy have a range of single family, semi-detached and condominium homes, ranging from small (closer to the LRT line) to mid-sized.
