Richmond Hill is located at the south end of Broadcast Hill, at the end of Richmond Road west of Sarcee Trail. Access from downtown is from Crowchild Trail SW to Richmond Road. The community's entrance is past the Signal Hill Centre and Westhills Towne Centre malls. Residents enjoy both mountain and Elbow Valley views.

Schools
Public board pupils go to Glamorgan Elementary and Glenbrook Elementary, A.E. Cross Junior High on 37th Street S.W., and Ernest Manning High off 17th Avenue S.W.

Separate board students attend St. Andrew Elementary in Glamorgan, St. Gregory Elementary/Junior High in Glendale Meadows, and either St. Mary's High downtown or Bishop Carroll High on Crowchild Trail.

Shopping
Sierra Square, a nine-store community strip mall is right at the entrance to Richmond Hill. West Hills Towne Centre is the area's big shopping centre, with lots of stores, restaurants, a 10-screen movieplex, a Safeway and a Revelstoke Home Centre. Signal Hill Shopping Centre, just north of West Hills will contain a Superstore, Zellers and the first library in the area.

Recreation
The main park, off Sierra Morena Boulevard, which has both basketball and beach volleyball courts, and will eventually contain a public school, community centre, soccer fields, ball diamonds and a view park. The park is part of the north-south recreational pathway that runs through the community. Behind the park is Alred's Driving Range.

Homes
Richmond Hill has been developed since 1990, slowly extending west to Bragg Creek (that road is now re-aligned as Highway 8, accessed from the Sarcee Trail/ Glenmore Trail intersection).The community is now mature and covers 290 acres with over 1,600 homes. Most homes are single family or semi-detached homes. There are multi-unit townhouses north of 17th Avenue at ostello, which was the 1988 Winter Olympics Media Village, and at Simcoe Blvd and along Sciroco Dr, south of 17th Avenue SW.
