Homes: West of the City Communities
The Town of Cochrane is nestled beside the Bow River 20 kilometres (and 20 minutes) northwest of Calgary on Highway 1A (Crowchild Trail). You can also reach Cochrane using Highway22 north from the Trans-Canada Highway. Above Cochrane is the 200 metre Big Hill, used for hanggliding, on which sits the new Gleneagles development and golf course, with its stunning Rocky Mountain views.
Schools
Cochrane has a full range of schools for students of all ages.
Shopping
Cochrane is an entirely self-contained community, with lots of shopping in town along 1st Street, plus the new Points West Shopping Centre.
Recreation
Cochrane provides a number of recreational opportunities, with its Bow River parkland, and the Cochrane Ranche. The Western Heritage Centre is a popular museum. For adults, there hanggliding on Big Hill, and golfing at the Gleneagles Golf Course. Cochrane is only a few minutes drive from the Trans-Canada Highway to Banff, and Calaway Park a regional kids amusement park (open summers).
Homes
New homes are being built in Gleneagles, West Valley, West Terrace and Bow Meadows. All have a small-town feeling with larger lots and variety in the homes.
