Carseland is nestled between the Bow and Sheep Rivers, and is home to one of the region's largest irrigations districts. The Southern Alberta Land Company began surveying the Bow River Irrigation District (B.R.I.D.) in 1906 and began construction in 1909 with the main diversion on the Bow River, near Carseland. Delays were caused by financial difficulties and the outbreak of World War I ("the Great War") and the first delivery of water took place in 1920. By 1921, 9,400 acres (3,804 hectares) were being irrigated and by 1930 30,000 acres (12,141 hectares) were being farmed. The Canadian Government purchased all the land and assets of the Company in 1950. FoundLocally's Business listings for Carseland
